My Weekend Project

Hi !

It's October already, miss my outside activities, hanging around on Starbucks coffee in Filateli Pasar Baru, just chit chat with my hubby or doing my research paper. In this pandemic, all Starbucks store serve take away only. The impact of this pandemic, off course their income is reduced, the parking man (we called it Babe) is also experienced it. I hope everything back to normal. Aamiin.

This weekend project is....Bucket Hat.

I have so many works and chorus to do this whole weekend, but I tried to release my stress by sewing and making something that I liked. And bucket hat is my choice. I have three bucket hat, but I forgot to take a picture the last one.

I make from Linen, Batik cotton with and without linings. the train motif with lining is firmly, and the zigzag without lining is a little bit limp (linen fabric).

I am using my bucket hat for outside cycling with my hubby. It's cover me from the sunshine and I don't have to wear a sun glasses. My youngest kid request to make another one with train fabric motif and he likes it 😍

See you on next weekend project..

Hi!

How I miss this writing in this blog. Last written is on 2015, 5 years ago. I'm still active in sewing, quilting and patchwork. Because of my new job as a Lecturer makes me not writing anymore. Since 2016 I work as a Lecturer in Civil major on Institute of Technology PLN. My chorus as a Lecturer was so plenty and comes and go, I have to teach, doing a research and community services.

Since March 2020, I have doing an online teaching during Covid19 pandemic and mostly stay at home. When I worked from home, I've doing outdoor cycling in the morning, then cooking for my kids and started work from my laptop. Hopefully, we are keep healthy and always in a good condition.

On March 2020, I started make a face mask, and had many orders from my friends. I chosen Linen as my face mask fabric, but sometimes used cotton Batik if any requested.

A Pile of Mask

I forgot how many face mask I've been made, maybe around 50 masks or more maybe 😀
Some of my customers knows my products are from Facebook and Instagram. They loves my mask because of my motif and color, so funny and cute. Some of repeated order for their family also.

Ready to Deliver

I made my self for the packing. I used brown paper to wrap my mask. As much as possible I minimize plastic use, Do a little things for a better world, better environment. Below are my packing, I put on sticker to identify for man or woman. Off course, need a lot effort to make this packing, but I am happy, this is part of craft things. And my customers like it so much and proud of my action.

Face Mask-for Man and Woman

One of my lovely customers

Pinky face mask

I made a lot of pink color face mask for a girls/women and I made a dark color for man. I also made for kids with different size. I know it's a bit of a hassle for me, but I tried to finished all the orders. There are so many face mask maker at the beginning of Pandemic, and now I no longer make face mask because of so many my Lecturer duties.

I hope this Pandemic soon to be over and we keep healthy always....💪😊

My 3rd accordion wallet in the making (I Guess).
I am getting like this kind of wallet. Beginning when I bought this kit from Umi Fidh. And looked at her tutorial on her blog. It wasn't an easy for me to understand clearly as I am not the expert of a wallet maker. But now I am get in to it. I made a little modification on the wallet.

Look at the label, it wasn't put on the right position :)

Patchwork Cushions

Some months ago I made these patchwork pattern using my Moda Charm Pack. I love the color of green and red, it was so matched. I also made Cathedral Window pattern. A little difficult, since this is my first cathedral window I made. Should neat and tidy, there were some process in the making. But I am happy.

....And then I decided to make a cushion, a simple one. A simple project. I combined with local cotton, green stripes and solid red. The size were 40x40 cm. Hand Quilt.

I enjoyed making these. And I want to make it again. Someday...
And these were sold. Make me a double Happy...

Multipurpose Pouch from Story Quilt

Dear Quilters,

Its raining again this morning. I wish I could back to sleep and back to my cold pillow :) But I had to get up and run my daily routine as a mother of 3 amazing kids. Early morning has to take my 2 kids to school. Then take care for the smallest one. After everything done I'll back to my quilt.

My current project is a pouch. I saw a Japanese blog. It was an awesome blog. The blog name is Story Quilt. I learned so much from there. How to quilt without using a hoop, how to make a nice pouch and bag, and so much more. Every body can make a bag or a pouch but in correctly there are not many.

I try to make one from those website. But I prefer using my local fabrics instead of Japanese fabrics. In Indonesia Japanese fabrics are so expensive. I make a flower applique at the front of the multipurpose pouch. The size of background pieces are 2,5x2,5inch. Randomly color and motif. Otherwise you could make this from your stash. That's why there so many stash boxes I have :)

Assembly the flower applique

After finish quilt the background and the applique. Stitch the two sides together and make an oval shape. Honestly, It's a hard effort to make the bottom of this pouch. We need so much help from our pins. Use as many pins you have to make it. I put a bias to cover it.

Then I make the handle

I put some accessories on the back.

assembly the handle

view from above

Finally, I finish the project. it's a cute pouch. I know it is not as pretty as the story quilt made. But this is quite enough good for the first time, I guess.

Ok, have to pick up the kids.

Enjoy the day, Quilters...
